Greg Rutkowski
Grzegorz “Greg” Rutkowski (born June 26, 1988, in Zgorzelec, Poland) began drawing as a child—pirates, superheroes, and whatever sparked his imagination. In elementary school he doubled down, taking after-school art classes by age twelve and exploring oils and acrylics. Local competitions followed, many of which he won, and those early recognitions fueled a disciplined pursuit of painting.
By his mid-teens he was studying anatomy and the mechanics of picture-making in earnest. Literary and artistic heroes—Tolkien, Simon Bisley, Frank Frazetta—pulled him decisively toward fantasy, a throughline that still defines his work. Largely self-taught, Rutkowski immersed himself in the online digital-painting community, developing methods through experimentation at a time when formal resources were scarce.
His professional portfolio spans flagship franchises and studios, including Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Neverwinter, Diablo Immortal, Horizon Forbidden West, ANNO 1800, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Warhammer, among many others. After years as a full-time digital artist, he returned to traditional media as well, painting in oils alongside his commercial assignments.
Amid the work, life deepened: he married, welcomed two daughters—Gaja and Anna—and built a home where he now lives with his family. The arc remains consistent: curiosity, craft, and a commitment to world-building that bridges studio disciplines and audiences around the globe.
High-profile commissions: Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Horizon Forbidden West; key art for MMORPG Neverwinter. (Notable professional credits rather than formal awards.)
